Printmaking

My the majority of my art features textured imprints of native and wild plants, flowers, leaves, and grasses of Northern New England, many of which are dead or dying. I often turn to walking to feel grounded in the physical world around me – something that has been a lifeline to me as I’ve grown up navigating chronic health conditions – and have become continuously inspired by the way in which humans are not so different from plants. Just like the Queen Anne’s Lace or the Red Maple leaf, we are powerless to the phenomenon of change and subject to seasons of loss and decay. But, like them, we are also resilient and dedicated to living the cycle of life, being together in the place we are, and nurturing each other in the process. Through my art, I hope to foster a sense of place for the viewer and challenge them to see the innate beauty and life in seasons often characterized by death.

COLLAGRAPHY

Most of my existing collagraph prints are elements from my undergraduate capstone installation piece "Soladago(To Make Whole)".
